Cairns Baby!

Absolutely Stunning.

<3 <3

Thinking about missing you

Hi there my beautiful little niece or nephew,

You are so much bigger than a peanut now. Actually, according to the internet, you are about as long as a cucumber, which seems a strange unit of measurement to me. You are growing so fast and woah doesn't Elkie know it. She looks absolutely wonderful, but feels huge! You have a lot of room in there, swimming around and sucking your thumb, doing baby things and being oh so cute, while we all wait impatiently to meet you.

Recently Elka and Gaby stayed at our house for a week before moving to Cairns. While they were at our house I spent time talking and singing to you, telling you funny things and reminding you to think of me while you are up there in the tropics and I'm in the busy city.

I was very sad when Elkie told me they had decided to move. It has been wonderful to have my best friend, my sister, near me. Elka and I have been friends for so long that nothing is easier than just having her here. Since you came along I have relished being so close and watching you and her grow and change together. She and Gaby love each other so dearly and so sweetly. She is perfectly herself with him and he helps her to shine with this brilliance that I don't think she even realises she has. You, my little peanut are going to be so amazing, a product of such a brilliant love.  I am determined to be a major part of your life, and I want to be there for all your important moments. I guess I'm going to have to become a Cairns Frequent Flier :) Your little family is going to have such a happy family in the tropics, and I can't wait!

As you may gather, things have been very busy the last few weeks, which is why I haven't had a chance to upload any pictures lately. So I will upload some now that I have missed out on. I'm losing track of the order so will have to sort that out at some point.  I love you my sweet peanut

THATS YOU

Not sure when this was, it's a few weeks old because its in E&Gs old house,
but it's very cute and I don't think I've put it up yet

15 Weeks

Elka said this week she started to feel you bubbling around! It's early, but soon you will start to kick, and Elkie will get to feel you moving around- getting comfy and swimming around in her tummy. She looks just beautiful, and I know I have said that before, but I am absolutely in awe of how wonderful she is. It is not easy business growing a little baby in your tummy, and this is something your mum was been saying to me last week as we looked at an ultrasound of you (from when you were just a little 6 week old speck) and chowed down on huge burgers in the Pitt St food court. She has been so amazing dealing with the things that are hard about being pregnant. Her skin is dry, she always has to wee and she is always tired. Eating properly is complicated and seems annoying, but my gosh your mum is a legend. I am so proud and so inspired, and I watch her do all these special things to look after you, and make sure you come into the world just perfect, because she (and we all) loves you so much already.

Little family <3
When you are born your mum and dad will have found a new place to live. At the moment they are living in a tiny little house that they don't like very much. I haven't been there, but Elkie tells me it has no light and no space - Gaby has to shave in the bedroom because there is no room in the bathroom! Gaby is working a hundred hours a week to save up as much money as he can to support your little family, and Elka is working too. Your parents are so dedicated and so committed to giving you everything you need when you come along.

See Gaby shaving in the bedroom?
It's amazing that Elkie is half way through her pregnancy already. It seems like not that long ago when she called me saying "guess what?". Soon we will be holding you and snuggling your sweet little face.

Lots of love
xx

Your new hat

Today your mumma bought you a little hat! The first thing she has bought for you!
Here she is at Myer in the city looking a little tired- we spent all afternoon looking at baby clothes before she specially chose this little white hat with with little floating leaves on it. A hat just for you!

14 Weeks

4 May 2013 - 14 Weeks
Go Peanut Go!

I like to read about your development on the internet to see how you are going in there.. According to the extremely reliable internet, you are about 8.7cm long now and you weigh about 43 grams! AND by the end of this week you will finish all of your development, and then all that's left for you to do is get bigger!

Your mum looks so beautiful with you growing inside her. She is emotional all the time though, it's very cute from where I am standing but I'm sure it's a roller coaster for her. One moment she is crying and the next minute she is bursting with joy. You are playing with her heart and mind little peanut, such power over her you have already!

It's amazing to think that as children we always dreamed about the days when we would grow up and have babies. I am in absolute awe of Elkie right now, doing it for real. I am so proud and excited, secretly scared and jealous too! I know you will be so loved and so beautiful. You will have such wonderful parents and such devoted family and friends around you.

What a world you are coming into, little peanut! <3

Your aunties are getting excited!!

Predictions by your mumma!

So many little updates and so many predictions! It's a very exciting time, sometimes I feel like it is going too quickly - I want to watch you closely, because I don't want to miss anything! On the other hand, I am so impatient I can hardly sit still. I can't wait to meet you! I wonder what you will look like, will you be a boy or a girl? Will your hair be dark or will you be born without a hair on your funny little head? Will you have your mum's eyes or your dad's?

I keep buying you little presents. Clothes, and rattles, and knick knacks that I'm going to give you. I can't wait to spoil you, and teach you and watch you grow :) I love you already peanut! <3

Beautiful Wedding
Beautiful Couple!

The day after their wedding

Hi Peanut!

"Sissy I have something to tell you!"
And I knew, as soon as she said those words.

That was two months ago, Elkie was four weeks pregnant, and it was February 26th. The next day she went to the doctor to have the pregnancy confirmed, and just like that - we knew there was YOU!

The first few weeks went very quickly. Elkie was tired, excited, and still a bit stunned. She didn't have much morning sickness apart from  being a little nauseous and craving beef jerky, which isn't out of the norm.  We spent time talking excitedly about how she wanted her pregnancy to go, chatting about midwifery, hospitals, doctors and birth plans. Gaby and Grant made business plans and drank beer while Elka and I watched videos about pre-natal yoga, baby slings, and organic baby food. Elkie started asking people for advice, new mums, young mums, and friends with kids. We both talked to our mums. Everything was so new and the advice flowed freely.

Each week Elkie sends me an update of how you are going in there, growing into a little person. With arms and legs and feet and hair. Each week you grow. You were the size of poppyseed, and then a sesame seed, a lentil, a pea, then a peanut... Last week you were a fig and this week you are about the size of an apple. I still call you a peanut though, and I think that nickname will stick around for at least the next seven months :)
